The police in Edo has held a suspect, Kadiri Edenokun, over accusations of contravening the law through rape, defilement of his six-year-old daughter.
The Command arrested Edenokun, adding that he confessed to committing the crime and has is currently in custody in an attempt to aid his prosecution to unravel situations leading to the act.
The security agency victim is receiving medical treatment under the care of the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs, and also stated that the 57-year-old suspect would charged to court after completion of investigation.
”The command has arrested a suspect over the alleged defilement of his six-year-old stepdaughter,” a statement made available on Wednesday by the police reads.
”During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the offence multiple times,” it added.
The police warned residents in the state to desist from unlawful acts, stating that the government would make sure the wrath of the law awaits erring individuals.
