Former Super Eagles striker Tosin Dosunmu has drawn comparisons between Rafiu Durosinmi and Victor Osimhen, pointing to the Genk forward’s strength in the air as a notable part of his game.
Dosunmu, who also represents Durosinmi as his agent, said the 23-year-old striker has some qualities that remind him of Osimhen, although he believes Durosinmi has a particular advantage when competing for aerial balls.
“Rafiu sometimes reminds me a bit of Victor Osimhen, with the difference that he is really very strong in the air,” Dosunmu told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, according to Tribal Football.
Durosinmi has made a strong start to the 2026/27 Belgian league campaign since joining Genk from Italian club Pisa during the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian has scored five goals in six Jupiler Pro League appearances and went on a four-match scoring run at the beginning of the season. His tally currently places him among the leading scorers in the Belgian top flight.
Dosunmu said Durosinmi immediately caught his attention after arriving at Genk, despite having spent only about 10 days training with the team before making his first league appearance.
“On matchday one, he already surprised me with what he showed after barely ten days of training,” Dosunmu said.
However, the former Westerlo forward believes there is still room for Durosinmi to improve, particularly with his physical conditioning and understanding with his new teammates.
“Condition-wise, he is not yet top-notch, and the understanding with his teammates still needs to develop a bit,” he added.
Durosinmi moved to Genk after a challenging spell at Pisa, where he joined in January but struggled to make a consistent impact before the Italian club’s relegation from Serie A at the end of last season.
The striker has already represented Nigeria at senior level, making his Super Eagles debut in May during the Unity Cup.
