RETIRED AVM Paul Masiyer, the aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency of Plateau, has withdrew the lawsuit instituted against his party over the recently concluded primaries.
Masiyer, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Jos, said that the move followed intervention by critical stakeholders of the party.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Rep. Ishaya Lalu defeated Masiyer to emerge candidate of the APC for the constituency ahead of the general elections.
Dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries, Masiyer approached the Federal High Court, Jos, challenging his defeat.
Masiyer explained that the decision to withdraw the lawsuit was also informed by his Christian teachings, as well as in the interest of peace and progress of the constituency.
“I have decided to withdraw the lawsuit I instituted against my party, the APC, regarding the recent primaries for Bokkos/Mangu federal constituency.
” I have instructed my legal team to immediately abide by this directives.
“This decision is born out of profound respect for the wisdom of our elders and the overarching need for unity within the party and our constituency.
“While pursuing legal redress is within my right, leadership often requires sacrifices for peace, harmony and progress.
“We cannot build a stronger, prosperous party and constituency if our house remains divided,”hesaid.
Masiyer, however, called on his supporters to respect his decision and support all APC candidates in the state in 2027 general elections.(NAN)
