Activist Aisha Yesufu has promised to personally monitor votes across Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, from the smallest polling units all the way up to the national results.
Speaking on Thursday during an interview on a television programme, Yesufu explained that the 2023 elections had shown them the importance of this kind of oversight.
She made it clear that they won’t tolerate rigging this time around, and that her team is ready to follow every ballot, box, and result sheet through the entire voting chain from the polling stations to the local government offices, state counts, and finally to the national tally in Abuja.
She stressed that there’s no way anyone involved in the process will escape their sight.
Whether votes move by bike, boat, or even private jet, her team will match their methods to ensure total transparency. Not a single ballot paper or result sheet will leave their watch.
When asked about the chances of Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate Peter Obi against President Bola Tinubu, Yesufu dismissed the president’s public persona as pure bluster.
She suggested that beneath the confident exterior, the president is actually frightened, and that anyone meeting him face-to-face would see that fear in his eyes.
