The Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 49-year-old man, Balamau Lardi, for allegedly stabbing his wife and causing her serious injuries during an altercation which ensued between them.
The security agency held that it’s operatives visited the scene after receiving information on the incident and arrested 37-year-old Lardi who has been held in custody over the attack on his wife.
The police held that the incident occurred yesterday at Kurnyi Tudu Village in Guyuk Local Government Area, according to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, who disclosed that the officers rescued the injured woman from her husband with injuries in her ribs.
Nguroje said the victim was taken to a medical facility after sustaining grievous injuries to the left side of her ribs. She underwent surgery and remained under medical care as of today.
He stated that investigations have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, condemned the incident and described the alleged act as gender-based violence.
Hassan subsequently directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to assume control of the case and ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution.
