US-Iran War Live Updates: Iran has warned Gulf states that any renewed US attack on its territory would trigger retaliation against American assets and critical energy infrastructure across the region, five sources told Reuters.
The warning followed President Donald Trump’s July 28 threat to strike Iran’s energy network and infrastructure. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urged Washington’s Gulf allies to use their influence with Trump to prevent further strikes, according to a senior diplomat.
Meanwhile, a proposed Iran-Oman deal aimed at helping end the five-month war would give Tehran control over vessels entering the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Iranian source and two regional officials told Reuters. It would represent one of the biggest concessions to Iran so far.
Trump has said an agreement to reopen the strait is imminent, but US officials have repeatedly insisted that Washington would not accept Iranian control over access to the crucial energy trade route.
