GOV. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi has felicitated Muslim faithful on the celebration of Eid-el-Maulud, urging them to uphold the virtues of faith, sacrifice, humility, compassion and obedience.
Nwifuru in a goodwill message on Tuesday, said the festival should serve as a reminder of the importance of peaceful coexistence, forgiveness, brotherhood and submission to the will of Allah.
He urged Muslims to use the occasion to extend love and support to the poor, vulnerable, widows, orphans and other less privileged members of society.
The governor also urged Muslims to rise above religious, ethnic and political differences, stressing that peace and unity were essential for meaningful development.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to build an inclusive Ebonyi, where every citizen, irrespective of faith, ethnicity, social status or political affiliation, would enjoy dignity, security and equal opportunities.
Nwifuru urged residents to continue supporting peace and security in the state, saying that dialogue, unity and love should be preferred to confrontation, division and violence.
He commended the Muslim community in Ebonyi for its contributions to the peace, progress and development of the state.
“Faith, resilience and patriotism are valuable assets for the development of any state,” he said.
The governor prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the sacrifices of the faithful, forgive their shortcomings, strengthen their families and bless Ebonyi and Nigeria with peace, prosperity and stability.
He further prayed that the Sallah celebration would bring renewed hope, abundance, healing and greater unity among Nigerians.(NAN)
