Renovation works on Sokoto NYSC permanent orientation camp embarked upon by the Sokoto state government has reached 80 % completion stage, project coordinator, Murtala Halliru, has said.
Haliru stated this while conducting newsmen round the N 1.07 billion renovation works awarded by the Governor Ahmed Aliyu-led administration, saying he was optimistic that the contractor would complete the work within stipulated time.
The camp, which was established by the former governor of Sokoto state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has not received any major upgrade since its establishment.
Murtala also told newsmen that the contractor has mobilised about one month ago and work has now reached 80% stage.
He said the scope of work includes the renovation of hostels, kitchen and dining hall, clinic, administrative block, staff quarters, construction of a new pavilion, and the upgrading of the main auditorium hall to 3,000 capacity.
“The duration of the project is six months. We have spent like one month now, so we have five months to go.
“From the ministry’s assessment, about 80 per cent of the work scheduled for this period has been completed.
“So far, we went around together. You can see how the work is going on. The contractor is still on site, working tirelessly day and night to achieve the target.
“From our assessment, about 80 per cent of the work to be carried out has been done,” he said.
