Fulani herdsmen in Ido local government area of Oyo state weekend said their cows were illegally seized by officials of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA).
The herdsmen stated this while conducting journalists around some of the communities where livestock were allegedly seized by the OYRLEA officials
Leader of the herdsmen and chairman, Miyyetti Allah in Ido local government, Alhaji Saliu Babangida, alleged that OYRLEA team that came to impound their cows are made up of Amotekun, vigilante and men of the agency.
Alhaji Babangida stated that 10 cows were taken away from Goronjo, and was allegedly sold off by the authority without the consent of the owner and that 16 cows belonging to Abubakar Mohammed of Konguo village were returned after allegedly paying a sum of N8.5 million.
The herdsmen leader alleged further that 9 cows were seized at Sonso, while ten cows and five sheep have not been returned to date, and that the huge financial loss incurred by the owners of the cows has caused them more economic hardship.
Also, one of the herdsmen team, Alhaji Abubakar Saliu alleged that the officers usually came during the middle of the night to perpetrate the unholy activities, claiming they were from the state government.
Alhaji Saliu expressed concerns over the alleged extortion, bias, and unlawful seizure of livestock by the OYRLEA officials.
