The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the just-concluded Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has congratulated the Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, declaring that the party would now shift its attention to the 2027 general election and the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu.
Oyebamiji said he and his supporters had accepted the outcome of the governorship election and congratulated Adeleke who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In an address to leaders, members and supporters of the APC in Osun on Saturday, he, however, said that the party would continue to pursue any legitimate concerns arising from the election through lawful and constitutional means.
“While we accept the outcome of the election and congratulate the winner, we cannot forget the painful incidents of violence and the lives that were lost,” he said.
The APC candidate mourned victims of political violence during the election and called on security agencies to carry out thorough investigations and ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.
“No political contest should cost any Nigerian their life,” Oyebamiji said, as he expressed solidarity with families of those who lost their lives.
He thanked APC leaders, members and supporters for standing by his aspiration throughout the campaign, describing their sacrifices, resilience and prayers as critical to the party’s efforts during the election.
Oyebamiji also acknowledged the support of President Tinubu; former Osun State governor and APC leader, Bisi Akande; and the immediate past governor of the state, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola.
He said their guidance and commitment contributed significantly to the party’s campaign and its continued efforts to strengthen its political structures in the state.
With the governorship election concluded, Oyebamiji urged APC members not to become discouraged but to remain calm, united and committed to the party.
“The 2026 governorship election has come and gone, but our commitment to Osun remains unwavering,” he said.
“Where there are legitimate concerns, we will continue to seek justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means.”
He said the party must now begin preparations for the 2027 general election, calling on its members and supporters across Osun State to close ranks and strengthen party structures.
According to him, the immediate task before the APC is to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s re-election and ensure the success of the party’s candidates in Osun State.
“As we now turn our attention to the 2027 general election, I call on every APC member and supporter to close ranks, strengthen our structures and rededicate ourselves to the task ahead,” Oyebamiji said.
“Our immediate responsibility is to mobilise for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the success of all our candidates in Osun State.”
Oyebamiji insisted that his Prosperity Agenda remained alive despite the outcome of the governorship election, saying the vision of building a greater Osun had not changed.
He said the APC would continue to work towards an Osun where opportunities were accessible to the people, resources were equitably deployed and governance served the interest of residents.
The politician urged party faithful to remain united as the battle for the 2027 general election begins, expressing confidence that the APC would regroup and emerge stronger. “Our journey continues,” he declared.
