Former vice president and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Monday was in Osogbo to campaign for the ADC governorship candidate in Osun state, Dr. Najeem Salam, ahead of Saturday’s election.
Atiku spoke at a grand rally held at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, where he told a large crowd that the ADC represents “the finest crop of Nigerians” and deserves the people’s mandate.
Recalling his relationship with Osun, Atiku said he has appeared on the podium in the state four times, adding that each time the people voted for him and his political allies.
He said he had earlier asked the electorate to support the current governor, and they did; he then appealed for support for his presidential campaign, which he said delivered him the state.
said he has now come again to urge voters to support ADC because, he said, it is different from the APC and other parties.
The ADC national chairman, Senator David Mark, expressed confidence that the ADC victory was imminent. He urged voters to turn out in large numbers and protect their ballots on Saturday.
Mark said after the election and the swearing in of Salam in November, the ADC would return to join the people in marching toward the Government House, insisting voters should not allow anyone to steal the election.
