Nigeria Air Force airstrikes have killed nine terrorists after an aircraft targeted a group of terrorists travelling on three motorcycles during an operation in Borno State.
The Nigerian Air Force conducted the operation under Air Interdiction Mission GUARDIAN after surveillance identified the terrorists moving together on motorcycles.
Subsequently, the aircraft launched a precision strike against the group, destroying the three motorcycles and killing all nine terrorists.
It was gathered that the NAF operation took place yesterday around Mai Hisari Arege in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to a Military Operational Report made available to correspondents on Friday, the operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities in the North-East.
The report said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of sustained aerial surveillance and targeted air operations against terrorist movements in the region.
Moreover, the report disclosed that the strike was part of broader counter-terrorism operations aimed at degrading the operational capacity of armed groups and preventing them from moving freely across vulnerable communities.
It added that the successful operation followed intelligence-led surveillance that enabled the military to identify and track the terrorists before engaging them.
The Guild reports that the latest air operation comes amid continued military efforts to contain terrorist activities across Borno and other parts of the North-East.
The military has continued to rely on aerial surveillance and precision strikes alongside ground operations to disrupt terrorist formations, movement and logistics in the region.
