THE Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, has urged Dunukofia youths in Anambra state to join the group named Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).
He made the call on the occasion of the giving of awards to six community role models selected from the six towns that make up Dunukofia LGA on August 8, 2026 at Dunukofia LGA headquarters, which is at Ukpo.
The youth wing of the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC) under the leadership of Ken Okoli had selected the community role models based on their sterling, exemplary, and inspiring leadership records and models.
Speaking during the events, Ikenga thanked the organizers for instituting the award ceremony, and used the occasion to advise the youths to join POCACOV instead of joining cult groups.
“POCACOV is a new thing, which started in Abuja. And the Nigerian Police Force is using it to reach the youths and tell them about the dangers they will face if they join cult groups.
“When we arrest cultists, they will plead for mercy, saying that they joined cult groups because they were under spell.
“So I am urging young people to join POCACOV,” Ikenga said.
He extolled Anambra state, saying that it’s the first state in Nigeria to have produced an anthem, which echoes the values of the Anambra state people.
He, also, made the suggestion that the anthem should be translated to Igbo language to enable a greater number of Anambra people understand the messages encoded it.
More so, the ASTUC Youth leader, Ken Okoli, restated what SP Tochukwu Ikenga said, advising the youths to join POCACOV instead of joining cult groups.
“Instead of joining cult groups, join POCACOV. And we will take value re-orientation to schools as we cannot build a virile and progressive society without having positive value system,” Okoli said.
During the event, the ASTUC Youth wing gave awards to Chief Okafor Nnamdi, a native of Ukpo; Chief Igboanugo Christian Maduka, a native of Ukwulu; Chief Frederick Ezika, a native of Umunnachi; Chief Vincent Udobi, a native of Ifite-dunu; Chief Olisa Adinnu, a native of Umudioka; and Hon. Onyemaobi Augustine Nnonyelum, a native of Nawgwu.
