HADIN KAI: Troops Arrest Four Terrorist Collaborators, Intercept 20 JAS Family Members
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested four suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP collaborators and intercepted 20 family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad terrorists in separate operations across Borno and Yobe States.
The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, disclosed this in a statement signed by its Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the operations conducted on August 3 also led to the recovery of suspected Indian hemp, food supplies, drugs, communication devices and other logistics items allegedly destined for terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
In Geidam, Yobe State, troops of 159 Battalion under Sector 2 arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators during a cordon-and-search operation based on credible intelligence.
The military said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly supplied hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram terrorists, thereby facilitating insurgent activities.
Items recovered from the suspects included a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp, several mobile phones, power banks, scissors, knives, torchlights, lighters, cigarette rolls, Pregabalin capsules, Piscof syrup and various identification and banking cards.
Troops also recovered ₦14,530 from the suspects.
In a separate operation in Monguno, Borno State, troops of Sector 3 Garrison, in conjunction with 242 Reconnaissance Battalion, arrested two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers.
The statement said the suspects were apprehended following sustained surveillance of terrorist supply routes.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to conveying food items and other supplies to ISWAP terrorists operating in Kwatan Dowoshi Village, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The recovered items included 11 cartons and 192 sachets of assorted biscuits, one carton of Peak milk, 10 mudu of sugar, nine bars of Viva soap, six headlamps, two bags and 16 rolls of sachet garri, three packs of lighters, two Tecno button phones, an assault knife, a charm belt, prayer beads, herbal medicines and ₦6,600.
The military also disclosed that troops of 222 Battalion intercepted 20 suspected family members of JAS terrorists along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The group comprised nine women, two men, eight female minors and one male minor.
According to the statement, the individuals disclosed during preliminary investigation that they fled their enclave in Gezuwa following intense military pressure and offensive operations against the terrorists.
The intercepted individuals have since been handed over to the 21 Military Intelligence Regiment for further profiling and necessary action.
The military said the arrested suspects and recovered exhibits had also been handed over to appropriate military intelligence units for further investigation and exploitation.
It described the operations as further evidence of the effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI’s intelligence-driven approach to disrupting terrorist logistics, dismantling support networks and denying insurgents access to critical supplies.
The Joint Task Force urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to facilitate ongoing counter-terrorism operations and the restoration of lasting peace and security across the North-East.
