The Federal University Dutse (FUD) has taken decisive disciplinary action against 34 students for examination malpractice, reaffirming its commitment to academic integrity.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello, confirmed that the institution’s Senate approved the sanctions during its 76th Regular Meeting held on July 30.
The Senate acted upon the recommendations of the 18th Report of the Senate Committee on Examinations and Related Misconduct, which reviewed cases across multiple faculties and departments.
Sanctions and Penalties
The disciplinary measures, implemented in accordance with the university’s regulations, include:
· 11 students expelled for their involvement in examination misconduct.
· 23 students rusticated for two academic semesters .
The rusticated students will be required to miss the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session and the first semester of the 2026/2027 session. They are expected to resume their studies in the second semester of the 2026/2027 academic year .
Additional Outcomes
The university also issued written warning letters to three students for lesser offences . One student was exonerated after the committee found insufficient evidence to support the allegations against them .
Affected students were drawn from various faculties, including Computing, Science, Education, Management Sciences, Agriculture, and Social Sciences .

Mr Yahaya-Bello reiterated the university’s unwavering stance on maintaining high academic standards and discipline .
“The university remains committed to upholding discipline, transparency and high academic standards,” he stated. “Examination malpractice will continue to attract appropriate sanctions, in accordance with the institution’s rules and regulations” .
He urged all students to conduct themselves responsibly and adhere strictly to examination guidelines to preserve the integrity and credibility of the university’s certificates .
