The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has promoted 7,472 personnel, comprising 2,134 Officers and 5,338 Marshals, in a move aimed at strengthening professionalism, rewarding merit and injecting renewed energy into the Corps’ leadership and operational structure.
The promotion, approved as part of the Corps’ ongoing human capital development programme, recognises the dedication, competence, discipline and years of service of personnel who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their responsibilities to the nation.
The development is also expected to motivate the affected personnel to take on greater responsibilities and contribute more effectively to the Corps’ efforts to improve road safety and protect the lives of road users across the country.
Speaking on the promotion on Friday, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the exercise as both a reward and a responsibility, stressing that every new rank must translate into higher standards of professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery.
He said the elevation should not be viewed merely as a change in rank, but as a renewed call for the promoted personnel to demonstrate greater commitment and deliver more impactful services to the Nigerian motoring public.
Under the new arrangement, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers have been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands from Wednesday, August 26, to Friday, August 28, 2026.
The decoration exercise will be conducted in line with the FRSC’s Administrative Instruction on the Decoration of Newly Promoted Officers and Marshals.
According to Mohammed, the strength and effectiveness of the FRSC are not determined solely by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement structures, but fundamentally by the quality, character, discipline and commitment of its personnel.
He congratulated the newly promoted Officers and Marshals, urging them to regard their elevation as a mandate to do more, lead better and serve with greater distinction.
The Corps Marshal reminded them that every additional stripe, pip or insignia comes with increased expectations from the FRSC, the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.
He further stressed that promotion within the Corps must continue to serve as an instrument for building a professional, responsive and performance-driven institution capable of meeting the evolving challenges of road safety management in Nigeria.
Mohammed urged the promoted personnel to justify the confidence placed in them by maintaining discipline both on and off the road, treating members of the public with dignity, protecting the integrity of the Corps and remaining committed to the pursuit of safer roads.
He also charged them to ensure that their new positions translate into improved operational performance, stronger leadership and more effective engagement with motorists and other road users.
The promotion comes as the FRSC intensifies its operational, technological and public enlightenment initiatives aimed at reducing road traffic crashes, improving compliance with traffic regulations and promoting safer driving practices nationwide.
The Corps considers the development and motivation of its workforce crucial to sustaining these interventions and achieving measurable improvements in road safety outcomes.
The newly promoted personnel are therefore expected to assume their new responsibilities with renewed commitment, recognising that their elevation brings not only higher status but also greater obligations to the Corps and the Nigerian public.
The FRSC said the exercise reinforces the principle that rank is not merely worn, but earned, entrusted and ultimately measured by service, while congratulating all the promoted Officers and Marshals and wishing them success in their new roles.
