The Federal Government has opened subscriptions for its August 2026 Savings Bond, offering investors annual interest rates of up to 14.963 percent on three-year tenors.
The offer comprises a two-year bond due August 12, 2028, with an annual interest rate of 13.963 percent, and a three-year bond due August 12, 2029, offering 14.963 percent per annum.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Debt Management Office (DMO) said the subscription window opened on August 3 and will close on August 7, while successful subscriptions will be settled on August 12, 2026.
The agency noted that interest on both bonds will be paid quarterly on November 12, February 12, May 12 and August 12 throughout their respective tenors.
According to the DMO, the bonds are available at ₦1,000 per unit, subject to a minimum subscription of ₦5,000 and in multiples of ₦1,000 thereafter, up to a maximum investment of ₦50 million. Investors will receive a bullet repayment of their principal on the respective maturity dates.
The office stated that the FGN Savings Bond is backed by the full faith and credit of the Federal Government of Nigeria and charged upon the general assets of the country.
It added that the bonds qualify as securities in which trustees can invest under the Trustee Investment Act and are recognised as government securities under the Company Income Tax Act (CITA) and the Personal Income Tax Act (PITA), making them eligible for tax exemption for pension funds and certain other investors.
The DMO further stated that the bonds are listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and qualify as liquid assets for banks’ liquidity ratio calculations.
It advised interested investors to contact stockbroking firms appointed as distribution agents for the offer, with the full list of approved agents available on the agency’s website.
