The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition from a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest during a follow-up operation linked to an ongoing investigation into arms trafficking.
The recovery followed intelligence obtained from one of four suspects arrested for allegedly supplying arms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandits. The suspects were earlier paraded at the Command Headquarters on July 11, 2026.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation on August 2 after one of the suspects, Musbahu Ishaq, provided credible intelligence during interrogation.
According to the statement, the operation led detectives to Dajin Madam Forest, located between Plateau and Bauchi states, where investigations revealed that the criminal syndicate maintained one of its hideouts.
Police said further investigations showed that Ishaq allegedly obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan before supplying them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin who is currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
A thorough search of the hideout led to the recovery of two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition concealed within the forest camp.
The Command said investigations were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate still at large, recover additional arms linked to the network and prosecute all those involved.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained operations against kidnapping and organised crime.
He assured residents that efforts would continue until all members of the criminal syndicate were apprehended and brought to justice, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
