Chelsea Hand first professional contract to academy striker Jashayde Greenwood

Chelsea has confirmed that academy striker Jashayde Greenwood has signed his first professional contract with the club after celebrating his 17th birthday.

The Premier League club announced the development as Greenwood continues his progression through Chelsea’s youth system.

Greenwood joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the 2025/26 season and linked up with the club’s Under-18 squad.

The young forward had already gained experience in the Under-18 Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign while representing Wolves.

Despite still being a schoolboy, Greenwood made seven appearances for Wolves’ Under-18 side during the season and scored one goal.

His move to Chelsea marked another step in his development, with the club continuing to invest in young players through its academy system.

The signing of his first professional contract further underlines Chelsea’s confidence in Greenwood’s potential as he develops within the club’s youth setup.

The announcement comes shortly after Chelsea’s latest pre-season outing, in which the Blues secured a 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the weekend as preparations for the new campaign continue.
