Held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting focused on strengthening industrial capabilities, accelerating technological transformation and creating practical mechanisms for collaboration among BRICS nations.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the declaration reflects a shared commitment to move beyond dialogue and implement concrete measures that strengthen industries and improve livelihoods across member countries.
Focus on innovation and industrial resilience
Industry ministers and heads of delegation from BRICS member countries outlined their national priorities and policy initiatives to promote industrial development.
The discussions highlighted a common commitment to strengthening industrial capabilities, accelerating digital transformation, building resilient and inclusive industrial ecosystems, and expanding cooperation to address shared development challenges.
The member countries also reaffirmed the importance of the Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) as a key platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building, industrial innovation and practical collaboration.
Delegations welcomed the progress made under India’s BRICS chairmanship, saying initiatives taken through PartNIR would help strengthen institutional cooperation and build more resilient and competitive industries across BRICS.
India highlights progress under its BRICS presidency
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the outcomes of discussions held by the PartNIR Advisory Group and thematic working groups across four priority areas identified by India.
These included finalising the Framework for Cooperation for MSMEs, adopting the Terms of Reference and Action Plan for the Photovoltaic Industry Working Group, and finalising an Action Plan on innovation-led growth through startups.
Goyal also emphasised the importance of resilient transport and logistics systems, including GIS-based infrastructure planning and city logistics planning, saying India’s chairmanship aims to build confidence among businesses, investors and innovators while delivering practical outcomes for BRICS members.
Trade ministers to meet next
India will also host the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, following the Third Meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues (CGETI) held in New Delhi on August 3 and 4.
The trade ministers are expected to discuss strengthening the multilateral trading system, improving MSME participation in global trade, building resilient global value chains and facilitating cross-border digital services.
On the sidelines of the industry ministers’ meeting, Goyal held bilateral meetings with South African Trade Minister Parks Tau, Brazilian Development, Industry, Trade and Services Minister Márcio Fernando Elias Rosa, and Egyptian Industry Minister Khaled Hashem Ali Maher to discuss ways to deepen trade and economic cooperation.
