Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins made a stunning admission while speaking during an event in Minnesota.
On Tuesday, during the Minnesota Farmfest, a three-day agricultural trade show and exhibition, Rollins bragged about removing 5 million Americans, including children, from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
“I know the Democrats don’t love (this),” She began.
“But for those of us that love work and celebrate work and want people to work and not be on food stamps, it’s a pretty big win when we move 5 million people off of food stamps, ya’ll,” Rollins said.
The Trump administration’s policy changes enacted last year reduced SNAP enrollment by 13 percent over 12 months, with approximately 45 million Americans previously receiving the program’s roughly $190 monthly food assistance.
Journalist Prem Thakker reacted to Rollins’ comments on Wednesday.
“What’s that, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins? You’re proud of depriving millions of children and their desperate families of vital food assistance? Gotcha,” Thakker wrote for Zeteo.
Rollins also drew online mockery for requesting applause during her speech, echoing Jeb Bush’s infamous 2016 “please clap” moment.
Rollins was confirmed as Trump’s Agricultural Secretary in 2025.
