‘Absurd and unprincipled’: MAGA meltdown erupts as GOP senator vows to block Blanche

A MAGA meltdown erupted Friday after Sen. Lisa Murkowski told the nation she would not vote to confirm acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s nomination.

Murkowski — who criticized Blanche’s handling of the Epstein files release and the political “weaponization” of the Justice department under his leadership — was condemned as absurd by men who demanded her loyalty to President Donald Trump.

“Absurd and unprincipled position here,” wrote Mike Howell, of the Heritage Foundation. “The claim that politicization and weaponization have somehow accelerated is verifiably false.”

A Protect Democracy tracker reports Trump’s Justice department has targeted dozens of political opponents with criminal charges, but most of the cases have failed.

That did not stop Howell from claiming Murkowski’s decision stood proof of her corruption — not concerns about Trump’s.

“She was using this process to corruptly seek financial benefit for associates in Alaska,” Howell said. “Her own statement concedes that Blanche is qualified.”

Murkowski said she could not vote for Blanche because she feared he would do the White House’s bidding.

“The country needs an Attorney General who will check the worst impulses of this administration,” she wrote on X. “I hope Mr. Blanche is able to achieve that, if confirmed, but I simply do not have confidence that will be the case.”

Benny Johnson, a conservative talk show host, joined in on the outrage by accusing Murkowski of disloyalty.

“Murkowski also refuses to support the SAVE America Act to secure election,’ he wrote. “She is sabotaging Trump’s agenda and subverting the will of the voters over her hatred for him. This is why Republicans lose.”

Gen Z activist CJ Pearson resorted to snark, writing, “With Republicans like Lisa Murkowski, who even needs Democrats?

A prominent conservative pundit with a vulgar X handle also slammed Murkowski for not walking the MAGA party line.

“Murkowski only votes on her hatred of Trump,” he wrote. “She’s the worst kind of representative – she only represents herself.”
