The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Zamfara Central, Alhaji Sanusi Bala Gusau, has condemned the recent attack by bandits in Bungudu local government area and pledged to prioritise security if elected.
In a condolence message delivered to the people of Bungudu, Monday, Gusau described the killings as tragic and painful, adding that the level of suffering across communities has made politics secondary to survival.
“People are wiser now. Poverty is not about politics, because right now everyone is suffering. If God gives us the opportunity, we will do everything necessary to end the security problem that is tormenting our people,” he said.
Gusau, who holds the traditional title of Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta in Gusau Emirate, expressed sympathy with families who lost loved ones in the attack and with those whose relatives are still being held by kidnappers.
He prayed to Allah (SWT) “to rescue those who were kidnapped, and to grant Zamfara state lasting peace.”
He said the insecurity in Zamfara has gone beyond partisan lines and requires urgent, coordinated action involving government, traditional institutions and community leaders.
He added that any meaningful development in the state will remain impossible until residents can farm, trade, and move freely without fear.
