The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the composition of its National Campaign Council and several sub-committees ahead of the Osun state governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The party, in a statement issued Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the National Campaign Council will be chaired by the Governor of Imo state and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Other top party leaders named as co-chairmen include Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

The APC also appointed the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, as Deputy Chairman of the council, while the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, will serve as Secretary.

The notice announcing the appointments was signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.

According to the APC, the council comprises governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, as well as other key party stakeholders drawn from across the country.

The party said the council was constituted to coordinate its campaign activities and mobilise support ahead of the governorship poll.

To strengthen its campaign structure, the APC also set up specialised sub-committees responsible for election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots mobilisation, logistics, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation, persons with disabilities mobilisation and secretariat functions.

The party announced that the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja. The inauguration is scheduled to begin at 12 noon.

The party said the move is part of preparations to secure victory in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
