At least six children have been killed and two others injured after a thunderstorm struck them while working on a farm in Dadiri Tirgali village, Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The tragedy has thrown the farming community into mourning, with residents struggling to come to terms with the loss of the young victims.
According to reports, the eight children were working on the farm when the thunderstorm struck, killing six instantly and leaving two others with varying degrees of injuries.
Reacting to the incident, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Christopher Nathaniel, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Ganye.
“The loss of innocent young lives has thrown the entire Ganye Chiefdom and Adamawa State into mourning. On behalf of myself, my family and the great people of the SDP, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Dadiri Tirgali, His Royal Majesty, the Gangwari Ganye, and the entire people of Ganye Local Government Area,” he said.
Ganye, widely regarded as the food basket of Adamawa State because of its rich agricultural activities, is now united in grief as families mourn the children lost in the tragic incident.
