Thunder strikes 6 children to death in Adamawa community


Tragedy struck in Adamawa community when during a heavy rain, thunder killed 6 children in Dadiri Tirgali village, Ganye local government area of Adamawa state. Three others were however lucky to regain consciousness.

The incident was said to have occurred Sunday evening around 4pm when the victims were working on a farm.

 The people in the community are still mourning the death of their beloved ones.

Speaking on the incident, the Adamawa state Police Command in a press statement made available to journalists, Monday in Yola and signed  by the Police Public Relations Officer( PPRO), SP Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed the story.

 He stated that the command had received the heart-breaking report from the Ganye Divisional headquarters  concerning thunder, which struck 9 people working on a  farm in Dadiri/ Tirigali  community of Ganye  local government. 

Nguroje stated further that upon receiving the report, police personnel from the division were immediately deployed to the community and the scene of the incident on a  rescue mission.

 He said the policemen met 9 people lying down on the ground unconsciously.

He stated further that on getting to the hospital, 6 of them were pronounced dead while three regained consciousness, but sustained serious injuries.
