Super Falcons midfielder joins Inter Milan ahead AWCON

Nigerian female footballer, Toni Payne, has joined Italian league club, Inter Milan, ahead of the  Italian female football league next season.

Inter stated that it was pleased to announce Payne’s signing, disclosing that the player penned a two-year-deal with the club after leaving English Women’s League side, Everton, at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

The club, after completing the deal on Saturday, disclosed that the contract is expected to run through to June 30, 2028, adding that the 31-year-old has the experience needed to contribute in the club’s targets for the upcoming season.

Payne, who would join his fellow compatriots for the African Women’s Cup of Nations, AWCON, began his footballing career in 2017 after an opportunity with Ajax brought her across the Atlantic. Following a season in the Netherlands, she moved to Sevilla, where she made 168 appearances and scored 30 goals between 2018 and 2024 before joining Everton.

After representing the United States at U17 level, Payne chose to play for Nigeria at senior international level, making her debut for the Super Eagles in 2021.
