What began as joyous celebrations among dozens of Argentina fans on board a flight quickly turned into stunned silence after a Spanish pilot revealed that his announcement of their World Cup win was nothing more than a prank.

Passengers erupted in celebration after the pilot announced Argentina had won the FIFA World Cup, only to learn moments later that Spain had lifted the trophy.

A video of a Spanish pilot pulling this prank on a plane full of Argentina supporters has gone viral on social media. The pilot falsely announced that Argentina had won the FIFA World Cup, triggering loud celebrations inside the cabin before revealing that it was only a joke and that Spain had actually won the final.
The clip shows passengers wearing Argentina jerseys jumping out of their seats, cheering and applauding after hearing the announcement over the aircraft’s public address system.

Many of them were believed to have missed the World Cup final while they were in the air and were waiting for the pilot to reveal the result.

The celebrations, however, lasted only a few moments. The pilot then informed passengers that

Spain had defeated Argentina, leaving the cabin in stunned silence as fans realised they had been pranked.
