President Trump's remark at Theodore Roosevelt library event stuns audience

A remark made by President Donald Trump at a speech given during the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library event, left the audience shocked. Trump while discussing father and son pairs who have received the congressional medal of honour, a prestigious military award given by the United States government, that he describes as the “nation’s highest military award for courage above and beyond the call of duty.”, mentions the fact that Theodore Roosevelt and his son are one of the only two pairs that have received the award. He goes on to mention Douglas MacArthur and his father Arthur, the only other pair to have been awarded the medal.

Trump then, proceeded to make a seemingly brazen joke about him and his own sons. He hints at giving the medal to them. “I think I’ll give one to myself, and one to them.” he says, suggesting claiming the medal for his own family.

“We’ll have a threesome.” He goes on to add. It was the wording, namely this statement, that had the audience shocked.
Upon the reaction he went on to say he would only pick one out of his two sons to give the medal to.

Along with the statements he made about the congressional medal he did not fail to provide the audience with a reason why he would receive the medal.

“I’ll get one for taking on Russia, Russia, Russia, or something.” Trump said. Additionally implying that they would be the third pair, joining the two previous father son duos who have been recipients of the medal.
