Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has questioned the timing of President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment of his elder brother, suggesting it came shortly after a visit from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Speaking in a video shared on his Facebook page, Isaac Fayose expressed surprise over the appointment and argued that it followed Obi’s recent interaction with him.
President Tinubu had earlier appointed Ayodele Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), a decision that has generated reactions from political observers.
Reacting to the development, Isaac Fayose wondered why the appointment was only made now, despite his brother having been out of office for several years.
He also questioned why the former governor was not considered for other prominent positions, such as minister or ambassador.
According to him, his brother had previously maintained that after leaving office as governor, he had no intention of serving as a senator, minister or director-general.
Isaac Fayose added that although he believes his brother may decline the appointment, the final decision rests with him.
The remarks come amid renewed political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections, with appointments and political alignments continuing to attract public attention.
As of the time of filing this report, neither President Tinubu nor Ayodele Fayose has publicly responded to Isaac Fayose’s comments.
