“Peller and Jarvis said no to premarital sex” — Femi Afolabi explains why Nigerians should celebrate Peller and Jarvis
Media personality Femi Afolabi Brown has praised popular content creators Peller and Jarvis for what he described as their commitment to godly and traditional relationship values ahead of marriage.
Speaking in a viral video, Brown said the couple deserved to be celebrated for promoting values he believes are increasingly rare in modern relationships.
He added that their approach to marriage could inspire young people and serve as a positive example for the next generation.
‘They are rewriting attitudes towards marriage’
Brown admitted that Peller and Jarvis might appear unconventional at first glance but said their beliefs and decisions had left a strong impression on him.
“And if you look at Jarvis and Peller, they seem a bit unconventional. They don’t look like the regular boy or the regular girl and you wouldn’t expect that kind of value from them.”
He continued by saying he was impressed after hearing them speak about their relationship.
“But when they expressed it, I was really impressed and I think we need to emphasise it and I think they need to be celebrated for such values because I perceive them as role models for the next generation, especially when it comes to marital values and how marriages are being handled.”
According to Brown, society’s perception of marriage has deteriorated over the years, making the couple’s stance even more significant.
“Things have really gotten very bad when it comes to perceptions, opinions, ideas about marriages nowadays. But I think Peller and Jarvis seem to be rewriting that attitude.”
Brown applauds couple’s commitment to abstinence before marriage
Brown further said he admired the pair for embracing what he described as traditional, godly and righteous principles in their relationship.
“They are taking us back to the old way, the traditional way, the godly and righteous way and I really celebrate them.”
He also referenced a biblical passage on the importance of a strong foundation, arguing that the couple had laid the right groundwork for a successful marriage.
“The Bible says if the foundation is faulty, what can the righteous do? This foundation is solid.”
Brown explained why he believes their relationship is built on a firm foundation.
“Because they said no to premarital sex, one. Two, because they’re actually in love. Three, because they decided to get married properly. That’s what they call a solid foundation.”
Although another person in the conversation questioned whether anyone could verify the couple’s claim that they had abstained from sex before marriage, Brown said he chose to believe them.
“They’ve not been sleeping with each other before marriage… Well, that’s what they have said and I will believe what they have said. I choose to believe them.”
He concluded by saying that while every marriage still requires effort after the wedding, he believes Peller and Jarvis have started on the right path.
“What everybody should look forward to is how to build the walls and to build the roof. But for this foundation, I think they got it right.”
