The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday officially presented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form to Senator Sharafadeen Alli, its Oyo State governorship candidate, and unveiled Adesoji Adedeji as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

Adedeji, 46, is an Economics graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University and hails from Iwo-Ate in Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State.

He is also the younger brother of  Zacch Adedeji, the executive chairman of the Nigeria revenue service.

Speaking during the ceremony, Moses Adeyemo, Oyo APC chairman and former deputy governor urged party members to unite behind the party’s candidates, stressing that only a united APC could reclaim power in the 2027 governorship election.

Adeyemo expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious, calling on members to put aside differences and work collectively toward electoral success.

Presenting the INEC nomination form, Gbenga Olayemi, APC deputy national auditor described Alli as the party’s standard-bearer and urged members to rally behind his candidacy ahead of the polls.

In his acceptance speech, Alli described his emergence as the APC governorship candidate as a victory for the entire party rather than an individual achievement. He thanked President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee, the state leadership, security agencies and party members for their support during the primary election.

The senator also appreciated his fellow aspirants and appealed to them and their supporters to close ranks in the interest of the party.

According to him, Oyo residents deserve a government that is inclusive, accountable and responsive to their needs, regardless of religion, ethnicity or social status.

Alli pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritise agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, environmental sustainability and inclusive economic growth while aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He further promised to lead with fairness, transparency and accessibility, assuring residents that he would remain accountable throughout his tenure.

Accepting his nomination, Adedeji thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him and expressed optimism that the APC would secure victory in the 2027 governorship election.

The event was attended by members of the APC State Working Committee, National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates, as well as several party leaders and stakeholders across Oyo State.
