…ranks #17 globally in new AI outsourcing readiness index

NIGERIAN workers have embraced AI faster than Nigerian enterprises have deployed it. That gap is the central finding in new data on the global AI workforce. The 2026 Global Outsourcing AI Readiness Index, just published by Ataraxis, ranks the world’s top 25 outsourcing destinations on AI adoption, workforce literacy, enterprise readiness, and education pipeline. Nigeria ranks #6 globally on workforce AI literacy but #19 on enterprise AI adoption, the widest workforce-to-enterprise gap of any outsourcing destination in the index.

2026 Index data relevant to your coverage:

  • Nigeria scores 49.15 out of 100, ranking 17th among the top 25 outsourcing destinations for AI readiness. Within Africa, it ranks 3rd behind South Africa (66.5) and Egypt (49.35)— ahead of Kenya (47.6), Morocco (43.35), Ghana (42.25), Uganda (25.1), and Ethiopia (24.2).
  • Nigeria is Africa’s 3rd most AI-ready outsourcing destination by a 1.55 point margin over Kenya and 0.20 point margin behind Egypt.
  • Nigeria’s strongest dimension, and its most important data point, is workforce AI literacy, where it ranks 6th globally for outsourcing destinations with a score of 66. It trails India (89), Brazil and the Philippines (both 76), Poland (70), and Malaysia (68), but outranks every other destination in Europe, Latin America, and the rest of Africa.
  • Nigeria ranks 6th in workforce AI literacy but 17th overall. This discrepancy is driven entirely by enterprise AI adoption (19th) and AI education pipeline (19th), which drag its composite score down.
  • Nigeria’s enterprise AI adoption score of 34 places it 19th out of 25 destinations, ahead of only Ghana (31), Pakistan (25), Bangladesh (25), Nepal (19), Uganda (14), and Ethiopia (14). The workforce is building AI skills; but enterprises are not deploying them.
  • Nigeria ranks below Egypt overall, despite having a dramatically stronger workforce score (66 vs. 50). Egypt outscores Nigeria in population AI adoption (53 vs. 49), enterprise AI adoption (42 vs. 34), and AI education pipeline (53 vs. 41). Nigeria’s workforce advantage is the single dimension keeping it competitive.
  • Nigeria leads Pakistan by 8.55 points and Bangladesh by 16.35 points in AI readiness.
  • Nigeria’s best score is workforce AI literacy (66) and its worst is enterprise AI adoption (34), a 32-point gap. The Nigerian workforce has embraced AI tools faster than the country’s businesses or educational institutions have.
