Nigerians have been cautioned by the Nigeria Customs Service to ignore a phony recruiting update that has been making the rounds on social media, claiming it did not come from the Service.
For genuine updates on its operations, including recruitment, the NCS advised the public to rely only on material made available through its official communication channels.

Scammers frequently take advantage of the public’s interest in government positions by disseminating phony ads and demanding money from gullible candidates.
The Nigeria Customs Service has debunked a fake recruitment notice currently making the rounds on social media, according to a news correspondent.
Security agencies and government bodies have consistently cautioned members of the public against acting on unverified recruitment announcements.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Service said the recruitment update being circulated online did not come from them and was entirely false.
Part of the statement read that the Service wished to make clear that the purported recruitment update spreading on some online platforms was fabricated and had no connection to the Nigeria Customs Service.
The Service urged Nigerians to confirm any such information through its verified channels before sharing or acting on it, adding that the public should ignore the fake publication and rely solely on updates issued through its official communication channels.
It listed its verified platforms as its official page and accounts across several online networks, all under the handle @customsng.
The statement closed with a call for vigilance, urging the public to verify information before sharing it further.
