NASARAWA Amazons on Saturday emerged champions of the 2026 President Federation Cup women’s competition after defeating Heartland Queens 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.The final, played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, saw Heartland Queens, making their maiden appearance in the competition’s final, take the lead early in the second half through Chizoba Johnson.
The Lafia-based side, coached by Christopher Danjuma, fought back later in the match as Judith Adaobi scored the equaliser to force the keenly contested encounter into a penalty shootout.
Both teams converted their initial spot kicks before the shootout entered sudden death, with Nasarawa Amazons holding their nerve to secure a 6-5 victory and lift the trophy.
The triumph adds another President Federation Cup title to the club’s achievements, while Heartland Queens earned praise for an impressive debut campaign that culminated in a final appearance.(NAN)
