A member of Vice President JD Vance’s security detail has been accused of compromising sensitive information and is under investigation, the Secret Service said on Thursday.
“A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation, and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security,” Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, said in a statement.
It was not immediately clear what information had been compromised, or how the individual under investigation may have undermined Mr. Vance’s security.
Mr. Guglielmi said the service would not give details on the investigation but emphasized that “any conduct” that could threaten a protectee’s security was unacceptable.
