Manchester Utd sign £50m Brazilian midfielder ahead EPL kick-off

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder, Andrey Santos, from fellow Premier League side, Chelsea, ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Santos passed a medical test and joined the club in a permanent deal worth £50 million which is expected to last till 2031, with the option to extend for a further year.

“Andrey is an outstanding midfielder with excellent technical qualities and the ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch,” said United’s Director of football, Jason Wilcox.

”He was a key target for us in an important position. Andrey still has enormous potential to develop further and we cannot wait to see him flourish at Manchester United,” he added.

”Everything about Manchester United is special,” said the new signee, who completed the move on Monday.

‘”It is an incredible feeling to join a club that some of my biggest idols have represented. As a midfielder, I am really excited to have the opportunity to learn from Micheal Carrick. He is the perfect coach to take the next step in my career and push to achieve my dreams.”

The 29-year-old, who was part of the Chelsea squad that won the Club World Cup in 2025, made 43 appearances and scored one goal for the west London Club side.
