Man Dies In Jigawa Hotel, Police Probe Circumstances

The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 60-year-old man who reportedly died after suffering a medical emergency at a hotel in Dutse while in the company of a 20-year-old woman.

The incident occurred on Tuesday and was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam on Wednesday.

According to the police, the man had checked into the hotel with the woman before he suddenly developed breathing difficulties shortly after requesting a meal.

Officers attached to the Yalwawa Police Division responded to a distress call and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse, where medical personnel certified him dead.

Police detectives subsequently secured the scene and recovered food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal effects for forensic examination as part of efforts to determine the cause and circumstances of the death.

Shiisu said all necessary investigative procedures were followed to preserve evidence, adding that the deceased’s body was later released to his family for burial after medical certification and the completion of official formalities.

He also disclosed that the 20-year-old woman who was with the deceased at the time of the incident is cooperating with investigators by providing useful information to assist in reconstructing the events leading to the man’s death.

The Commissioner of Police assured residents that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, professionally and impartially, while urging members of the public to refrain from speculation or circulating unverified information that could prejudice the ongoing probe.

“The Command remains committed to uncovering the facts surrounding the incident, and further information will be made available as the investigation progresses,” Shiisu stated.
