Argentine footballer, Alexis Mac Alister, has become the player with most matches unbeaten in the history of the World Cup following his country’s win over England.
Mac Allister has played in successive 13 games for the South American nation in the competition, including the 2-1 comeback win over England in the Semi final of the ongoing 2026 edition, without defeat, achieving the feat more than anyone other player in the competition’s history.
In the 13-game spree, the Liverpool man won 11 matches alongside two draws, which were both won on penalties, helping Argentina win the 2022 edition of the tournament, and also on course for a back to back triumph in the competition after his side made into the finals to take on Spain on Sunday for the 2026 prize.
The 27-year-old could make it 14 if his country finishes the match regulation time either with a victory or on even terms, as Argentina chase a fourth-time win in the mundial football event having won it in 1978, 1986 and 2022.
