The Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Police Force Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration to combat crime, enhance maritime security and ensure a peaceful environment ahead of the country’s election period.
This assurance was given when the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Abubakar Mustapha, paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Lagos, AIG Moshood Jimoh.
Speaking during the visit, Rear Admiral Mustapha said the meeting was aimed at reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Police Force, while introducing both leadership teams as strategic stakeholders in Nigeria’s security architecture.
He stated the need to deploy technology and strengthen collaboration in securing the nation’s creeks and waterways, noting that a safe maritime environment remains critical to economic growth and national stability.
The naval chief also conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to the police leadership for their dedication to maintaining peace and security across the country.
“We must strengthen collaboration and leverage technology to secure our creeks and waterways, as maritime security is vital to national economic stability,” FOC said.
Responding, AIG Jimoh commended the Western Naval Command for its sustained efforts in protecting Nigeria’s maritime domain, describing the Navy as a dependable partner in the fight against crime.
