The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed five hospitality establishments in Ikorodu over persistent violations of environmental laws after the facilities allegedly ignored repeated warnings and abatement notices issued by the agency.
The affected hotels, Docklands Hotels, Royal Tree Hotel and Suite, Rivera Hotel, Medallion Hotel and Daval Spring Hotel, located in different parts of Ikorodu, including Ijede Road, Gberigbe Road, Aga and Owode-Ibeshe, were found by LASEPA to have repeatedly violated environmental regulations.
Announcing the enforcement action in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, LASEPA said the exercise formed part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to enforce environmental standards, protect public health and ensure compliance with existing regulations.
The agency noted that the affected establishments were sealed only after several engagements and compliance opportunities failed to yield the desired results, stressing that the action underscored its resolve to hold violators accountable.
LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health through strict enforcement of environmental laws, describing compliance as a shared responsibility of businesses, residents and other stakeholders.
He urged operators of hospitality facilities and members of the public to embrace responsible environmental practices and adhere to all regulatory requirements, warning that the agency would intensify monitoring and enforcement against facilities that continue to flout environmental regulations.
Ajayi added that LASEPA would sustain its enforcement drive across the state, insisting that environmental sustainability and public safety would not be compromised.
