Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West, weekend, called for strict adherence to due process, justice and fairness in the handling of the party’s senatorial primary election, while warning against any attempt to substitute the duly nominated candidate.
The call was made at a press briefing organised by the Kogi West APC Leaders Forum in Lokoja.
Presenting the communiqué of the forum shortly after its meeting in Lokoja, Alfa Imam, the APC leader of Lokoja/ Kogi-Koton Karfe, stated that the forum’s position was not driven by personal grievances, but by a commitment to protecting the integrity of the democratic process.
Imam added that the APC senatorial primary election for Kogi West was conducted in line with established procedures, and Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro emerged as the winner after securing the highest number of valid votes.
He stated that the party’s Primary Election Committee submitted its report affirming Aro’s victory, while the Appeal Committee also upheld the outcome.
He said reports from relevant agencies, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigeria Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS), further validated the process.
