A gang of bandits has killed former Secretary to the Benue State Government, David Salifu, following an attack by the kidnapping gang.
Salifu, was said to be traveling after the bandits ambushed and aimed gunshots at him after which he died of the wounds.
Reports disclosed he managed to escape from his attackers but suffered serious gunshot wounds during the incident which occurred yesterday in Wukari, Taraba State, and was immediately taken for urgent medical attention following the attack, but he died at the hospital despite efforts by health workers to save his life.
“This is a tragic loss. He fought for his life after the attack, but unfortunately did not survive,” a source close to the family said.
Meanwhile, details surrounding the circumstances of the attack remain unclear, and police authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Benue State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls placed to the Police Public Relations Officer, Udeme Edet, were not answered at the time of filing this report.
