Vice President JD Vance has become the de facto “chief conspiracy communicator” of the Donald Trump administration based upon his recent flurry of podcast interviews, according to an analyst. Vance’s role has evolved into managing a delicate political tightrope of keeping Trump’s base energized while simultaneously protecting the president from the very transparency he promised on the Epstein scandal, according to MS NOW contributor Lindsey Beyerstein.
She wrote that Vance’s latest mission centers on maintaining Trump’s support among “low-propensity male voters”—particularly influential figures like podcaster Joe Rogan—while Trump actively suppresses the Epstein documents he once pledged to release. The contradiction is striking, she wrote. Vance campaigned on transparency regarding the Epstein files, but Trump has done the opposite, attempting to bury them. Now Vance finds himself embracing conspiracy theories to bridge this gap—a dramatic shift from his earlier skepticism toward unsubstantiated claims.
“No conspiracy theory presented a more challenging balancing act for Vance than Epstein,” she said. “Vance campaigned on releasing the Epstein files, only for Trump to try to cover them up.” During a recent Rogan interview, the tension became apparent, Beyerstein wrote. When Rogan suggested Epstein may have been a Mossad operative, Vance nodded along, offering his own vague speculation about CIA or “deep state” involvement—despite zero evidence supporting such allegations. Epstein was indeed connected to former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, she wrote, though Barak has never been implicated in any crimes and now regrets their association. According to Beyerstein, “If Epstein were a potential Israeli spy, however, you might think that the Trump Justice Department would have been more interested in finding out how he might have compromised high-level American officials, corporate leaders and celebrities. But apparently not.
“Vance did not elaborate on the reasons for this apparent disconnect, though he assured the audience, ‘I’ve asked were there, like, were there documents connecting Jeffrey Epstein directly to our intelligence agencies or anybody else’s? And the answer is, ‘No, but if that existed, it wouldn’t exist in 2026.’”
