The advisory, released via the Embassy’s official account on X, stated that the revision was being issued in light of a recent increase in instability and conflict within Iran.

- For those planning travel: Indian nationals intending to travel to Iran for any purpose have been advised to postpone their itineraries until the security environment improves.
- For those currently in Iran: Indian nationals already in Iran have been asked to consider temporarily exiting the country using available flight options.
- For those choosing to remain: Citizens who choose to stay have been advised to exercise the highest level of caution and monitor the news to maintain full situational awareness. They should avoid travelling to areas witnessing active military presence, particularly along Iran’s southern coast, and must comply fully with instructions issued by local authorities.
- Registration: Indian nationals in Iran who have not yet registered their details with the Embassy have been asked to do so immediately, and to regularly monitor the Embassy’s website and social media handles for further updates.
The advisory comes amid recent tensions between Iran and the United States across West Asia, with the US frequently launching attacks on Iranian infrastructure, including bridges, desalination plants and military installations.
In retaliation, Iran has launched attacks against US bases across the region, with Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates reporting the majority of such incidents.
Separately, India’s maritime authority had previously asked that Indian seafarers not be sent on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Nations estimated last month that at least 14 seafarers had been killed in attacks in and around the strait, without breaking the figure down by nationality. Of the incidents in which nationalities have been officially confirmed, Indian crew members account for the largest number of deaths, at 9 of the total 14.
