“I want my daughter’s corpse, I’m not suspecting any foul play” — Tanko Habila father of late Mary Habila
The father of late Mary Habila has publicly appealed for the immediate release of his daughter’s body for burial, saying he does not want an autopsy to be carried out.
Speaking in a video that has circulated online, Tanko Habila Wisdom said his only request is to take his daughter’s body home for a proper burial.
He added that he does not suspect anyone of wrongdoing in connection with her death.
Father rejects autopsy
According to him, keeping his daughter’s body for an extended period has caused the family more pain.
“I am Tanko Habila Wisdom, the father of the late Mary Habila. I don’t have much to say in this case, all that I want is the corpse of my daughter.”
He continued:
“You don’t keep corpse of a little child for so long just like this and that’s why I am here to say once and for all that I need the corpse of my daughter to take her for burial. That’s what I am standing on.”
Tanko also stated that he does not want an autopsy to be conducted.
“I don’t want the autopsy and that’s why I am demanding the corpse of my daughter to go and bury her now.”
Says he suspects no foul play
The grieving father said his family has maintained a good relationship with the Minister of Works and his daughter’s workplace.
“We have been having very cordial relationship with the Minister of Works, her workplace and we don’t want that autopsy they are talking about.”
He further stressed that he is not accusing anyone over his daughter’s death.
“I am not suspecting anybody because death can occur at anytime even as we are standing here and now, one can fall here and die.”
