The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has dismissed the reported endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and some Accord Party officials, describing the move as “illegal, politically contrived and inconsequential.”
The group argued that the endorsement was “null, unconstitutional and without political consequence,” insisting that only members of the Accord Party have the constitutional authority to determine the party’s presidential candidate.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Coordinator, GHSM said the gathering at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo had no constitutional basis and could not override the will of Accord Party members.
“No beer parlour meeting in Osogbo can determine the presidential direction of the Accord Party. The mandate of Accord members given to Dr Gbenga Hashim on May 30, 2026, cannot be traded inside any Government House,” the statement read.
“No meeting convened outside the constitutional structures of the Accord Party can extinguish the mandate freely given to Dr Hashim,” it added.
GHSM accused Governor Adeleke of engaging in anti-party activities and using state resources to hijack the Accord Party’s presidential project.
It also warned against attempts to impose a sole presidential candidate through what it described as “political intimidation and institutional manipulation,” maintaining that the Accord Party “belongs to its members, not to politicians seeking temporary political advantage.”
The movement expressed confidence that Hashim remained “the most credible and unifying alternative before Nigerians.”
GHSM further noted that the dispute over the Accord Party’s presidential nomination is before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where judgment has been reserved.
It cautioned against making pronouncements on matters before the court, describing such comments as inappropriate and potentially contemptuous, while reaffirming Hashim’s commitment to pursuing the matter through all judicial processes.
“The 2027 election will not be decided in Government Houses. It will be decided by Nigerians. No amount of political theatre can stop the rising national momentum behind the Hashim Project,” the statement added.
The group also vowed to intensify mobilisation across the country’s 774 local government areas in pursuit of what it described as the people’s mandate.
