Hanan Buhari, daughter of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, has spoken about the lasting influence her late father had on her life, saying his guidance continues to shape her personal values and outlook.
She shared the reflection on Thursday night in Marrakech, Morocco, after being recognised among the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons of Africa at the Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit.
Hanan dedicates honour to late Buhari
During her acceptance speech, Hanan dedicated the recognition to her late father, describing him as a source of discipline, encouragement and unwavering support.
According to her, Buhari instilled in her the importance of honesty, integrity and helping others without expecting anything in return.
She said those principles have remained the foundation of how she approaches life and service.
Says Buhari encouraged self-belief
Hanan explained that her father’s confidence in her abilities gave her the courage to believe in herself.
She added that she intends to continue living by the values he taught her by supporting women and contributing positively to society.
Her remarks come as tributes continue to highlight the personal and public legacy of the former Nigerian leader.
