Group hails Tinibu on new Army Divisions, fresh recruitment

A group known as Citizens Watch for Good Governance has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the expansion of Nigeria’s Army Divisions to 12, and the approval for recruitment of 28,000 new personnel.

The expansion has witnessed the creation of four additional divisions including; 5 Division, Makurdi, 9 Division, Ilorin, 10 Division, Jalingo, and 83 Division, Benin City, which the president said would help enhance the country’s ongoing fight against insecurity.

Briefing journalists, Monday in Abuja on the development, the group called for citizens’ support for the military in order to nip insecurity in the bud, describing the move as “a game changer.”

Its director of Communications, Igwe Ude-Umanta, said, “this decision is not a routine administrative adjustment. It is a historic and strategic masterstroke that will redefine the nation’s security landscape for generations.

“For our gallant troops who fight day and night, who chase evil into the darkest corners of our forests, this expansion and the mass recruitment of fresh, capable hands are a thundering morale booster.

“It tells every soldier that the nation sees, the nation cares and the nation is backing them with concrete action.”
