Nasarawa state Governor Abdullahi Sule has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle with six commissioners relieved of their appointments as members of the State Executive Council.
The Secretary to the Nasarawa state Government, Barrister Labaran Shuaibu-Magaji made the announcement shortly after a meeting of the Nasarawa State Executive Council at the Government House in Lafia.
The commissioners affected are those in charge of the Ministries of Security, Women Affairs, Works, Science and Technology, Information, and Lands.
According to SSG, the Governor’s action was not triggered by the Commissioner’s poor performance but the need to inject fresh energy into the administration.
He, however, stated that council appreciated the outgoing Commissioners for their dedication, efficiency, and valuable contributions during their tenure.
His words, ”The adjustment is intended to rejig the system, inject fresh energy into the administration, and ensure that the mandate given to Gov. Abdullahi Sule is fully delivered within the remaining period of this administration.”
The SSG further maintained that the former cabinet members remain valued partners of the government and may be re-engaged for other assignments in the future while replacement nominees will be announced through official government channels in due course.
Aside the cabinet changes, the State Executive Council held extensive discussions on maximising State revenues by tapping into Nasarawa’s growing lithium sector.
The move follows the recent inauguration of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in the State by the President Bola Tinubu who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Magaji stated that government was finalising actionable strategies to harness the economic potentials of the processing industry, with specific measures to be announced soon.
